Rewards for Justice (RFJ) is advertising using TOR links on the Las Vegas Strip. I was recently in Las Vegas for DEFCON & BlackHat. Outside the Forum Shops at Caesars on the big display was link to a .onion page. I’ve never seen a .onion page linked in a public display like that. RFJ is a tip page run by the US State Department. It’s typically been focused on tracking terrorist. However, since the US government is now handling ransomware like other national security risks, RFJ has posted a $10 million reward for information on CONTI ransomware gang members.
Interestingly, CONTI has recently disbanded or at least reorganized. However, the members listed on RFJ’s site are likely still in charge of CONTI’s operations. From the CONTI leaks we know that CONTI has raked in huge sums of money but $10 million buy some hearts and souls. It will be interesting to see if and how quickly this brings CONTI members into custody.
